Autumn

“What?” Autumn hissed, scampering off Oliver’s lap, her post-orgasmic bliss shot to hell.

“I can hear her.”

“Of course she’d choose now to try and break in.” Incredulity filled Autumn’s voice as she tugged her bra up and grabbed her shirt, angrily stabbing her arms into it. She wanted more of Oliver, to return the favor, to see what else they could get into while pretending they were locked away in a world of their own. However, it was very clear their night was over.

A look of irritation was carved into Oliver’s beautiful features as he stood up, pants hung indecently low. Autumn’s little traitorous eyes didn’t hesitate to get their fill even with the situation at hand. “I swear I hate Max for making me keep her. He’s obsessed with the drama she creates.”

Autumn rolled her eyes. “There’s definitely plenty of drama when she’s around.”

Oliver nodded. “Indeed, and I think it’s time I let the bloke deal with the problem he created. But first…” He moved to kiss her deeply, his hands cradling her face in a way she’d already become addicted to. “You’re stunning, Autumn. Truly.” And then he gave her another kiss before he set about his original mission. In three long strides, he was at what she figured was his nightstand. He scooped up his phone, angrily scrolling through his contacts and jabbing at one in particular. Max, most likely. Autumn took that time to admire his back, the way his muscles flexed and rolled with each little movement. Would his neck tense when he came? Oh, how she longed to know. She wished she could’ve gotten that shirt off of him and licked every indent of the muscles she felt beneath.

“The human you insisted we keep is trying to break into my room. I want her gone now,” Oliver growled and then hung up. His eyes darted from her to the door. “And we’ve got to hide you since it’s against the rules for you to be here.” Oliver spun around, eyes landing on his coffin.

Autumn held her hands up in front of her. “Uh, no. No way. Don’t even say it.”

“Please, Autumn. I wouldn’t ask it of you if it wasn’t important. We can’t let them find out about any of this, us, whatever we are or want to be. At least not yet, and surely not like this, okay?”

Even though she hated it, she knew he was right. What she detested most was that at the mention of an “us,” butterflies fluttered around in her stomach. What she’d done with Oliver was glorious and she desperately wanted more. She felt like a walking live wire. Her head was fuzzy, and she swore her fingertips could shoot sparks, and all because of Oliver, because of stepping outside her little box and doing something she wanted to do.

And that’s what led to her actually agreeing to hide in the coffin. She wanted to stay on the show and see where things with Oliver might go.

She straightened. “All right.
